Seniors Events

  • National Seniors Day (October)

Seniors Activities (Older Adult Fitness and Seniors Sit n Fit) with three series of 12 sessions per year.

  • Fall 2019 Schedule:
    • September 9th to November 28th
    • Cost: $30
    • No class on October 14th and 21st and November 25th

Join Older Adult Fitness for one hour every Monday and Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the  Recreation center on Thorburn Road

Join Seniors Sit n Fit for one hour every Tuesday and Friday morning from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm (noon) at the  Recreation center on Thorburn Road.

Home Again Furniture Bank aims to end furniture poverty on the northeast Avalon.  Gently-used furniture and housewares are collected and redistributed. Those in need access the service through a referral system of local Partner Agencies and Organizations (see list on the website home page -third“Heart” from the bottom). Home Again does not direct client service. Thanks to donors, almost 1300 households now have the comfort and dignity of a well-furnished home.  To donate contact: 709-325-4040
Violence Prevention- Avalon East, formerly known as Coalition Against Violence Avalon East, is one of ten Regional Coordinating Committees working in partnership with the provincial Violence Prevention Initiative to increase awareness of all forms of violence. This organization works to end violence in the eastern Avalon by educating, lobbying, advocating, and increasing awareness around issues of violence.   NEW ---Violence Prevention-Avalon East: Notice of Office Relocation VP-AE moving Monday (December 5th)  and will be open to the public mid december.
