Effective Communication with the Older Adult: A Guide for Healthcare Providers

Literature, cited in this report, states that 70% of Canadians aged 65 to 79 take more than one medication.  Polypharmacy – taking at least five prescription medications concurrently—was also highest at approximately 30% among 65- to 79-year-old Canadians.  Information Sheets and Check Lists were compiled to assist health care providers in their discussions with older adults on medication administration and use.

This Guide was created in consultation with SeniorsNL by 4th year nursing students at the Centre for Nursing Studies – Megan Davis, Brittany Malone and Chelsea Smith – in the Fall of 2017.
